  • A new service is being offered at Minute Clinic. They are conducting both camp physicals and sports physicals as of June 17, 2009. They can also update childhood immunizations when needed. Since they are open on week-ends, and until 7:30 during the week, they are able to supply these services on a more flexible schedule than many physicians offices.

  • The Frontiers of Flight Museum at Love Field Airport will be offering the aviation merit badge on September 26th, 2009. Go to their website and register now. Class size is limited to 25. They also have lots of activities for cubs.

    • Texins archery club, www.dallasarchery.com has qualified boy scout instructors for the archery merit badge, they have a Saturday 9am to noon seminar by appointment at their range for scout troops (min. of 6 scouts) to do the complete badge.

      The cost is $60 per instructor (one instructor per 12 scouts) and $10 per scout. the scout must read the merit badge book beforehand and have signature as evidence of completion of work.


      To schedule contact clintmontgomery@tmail.com . these fees can be offset by service work performed by the group.  on February 20th, 2010 UT Austin is having their merit badge university.

      This is an excellent opportunity for the boys to get those impossible badges like composite materials and nuclear science taught by college instructors. On march 6, 2010 Texas A&M is having their merit badge university at College Station. Other merit badge colleges are offered but no dates have been set.
  • The district is currently accepting announcements, articles, photos, and pretty much anything scouting related for upcoming editions. The newsletter will be published monthly and will include timely articles and featured stories from District Leaders, Unit Leaders, and both Cub and Boys Scouts.
